“While Republicans continue to fight among themselves, Georgia Democrats support property tax relief, health care for working families through PeachCare, funding for tornado ravaged South Georgia, monies for our local school systems for increased enrollment and funding for our public defenders,” said House Democratic Leader DuBose Porter (D-Dublin). “Our priorities have not changed.”

Represenatative Debbie Buckner (D-Junction City) has introduced legislation to protect Jekyll Island from over development. HB 548 says that 65% of the island, mostly on the south end, remain undeveloped in the hopes of preserving one of the state's most treasured natural resources. Residents of the island, along with citizens throughout the state, do not want to see additional residential and commercial development that will essentially, change the character of the Jekyll Island.
